Laundry emergency on a Sunday? 5 quick emergency tips
Do you have an important appointment tomorrow and your outfit is still dirty? Since laundromats all over Stuttgart have to stay closed on Sundays, here are five quick emergency tips for you.
Whether it's a shirt, trousers or your favorite shirt - if it needs to be clean in the morning, this is the best way to go about it:
1. Off to the sink
Fill the sink with lukewarm water. A dab of shampoo or mild washing-up liquid replaces the detergent perfectly.
My tip
A small dab of shampoo is all you need. If you use too much, a mountain of foam will form in the sink that you will hardly be able to get out of the fibers.
2. Soak & move
Submerge the garment and gently press it through the water. If there are stains (e.g. on the collar or under the arms), you can gently rub the fabric against itself.
3. Rinse thoroughly
Rinse the item with clear, cold water until there is really no more lather. Soap residue in your pants can cause itching the next day!
4. the professional drying trick
Lay your wet garment flat on a large, dry bath towel. Roll up the towel and clothing tightly (like a burrito).
Stand briefly on the roller with your body weight or squeeze it firmly. The towel absorbs 80% of the moisture.
My tip
Never place wet clothing directly on a hot radiator. The intense heat can scorch or even melt fabrics such as wool or synthetics. This often results in ugly yellow stains. It's better to hang your clothes on a hanger at some distance from the heater - it's much safer.
5. use the draught
Hang the item on a hanger. A shirt should be hung on the top edge of an open window or door (draught!). Trousers are best hung with the legs facing upwards.
